J.CRUW was founded by seven Sleepy Hollow students in Spring 2000. All friends, these students began to pray together regularly, fast together, and meditate on their reasons behind starting the club. They decided to give it up to God. THey left it in His hands as they began the "appeals process" to the school principal. They researched the Equal Access Act, and knew their rights as students to have this club. Permission to hold the club was granted in late May. The smaller group (the seven founders) then extended an open welcome to the school to participate in their next meeting-- the first official meeting of J.CRUW. The students, each having different religious backgrounds and coming from different churches shared the same desire to bring God into their school. They created an alliance between their churches. They became ambassadors for Christ in their school.
